About our Troop
From a small seed, mighty trees can grow. Especially if they are protected, fed and watered. That is why our Troop is Scout led, guided and supported by our Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters, and Committee. Our Scouts gain many life, leadership and outdoor skills in an atmosphere where experience and confidence can thrive.
Our Leadership is special- We are a rare small community that lives big because of enthusiastic and generous volunteers. Our Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters share their knowledge but allow Scouts to find their way and lead. Our Committee is made up of current and past parents who are passionate about Scouting and how it helps young people grow in positive ways. Our focus tends to be on outings, so we try to keep fundraising to a minimum; hosting a couple of larger events throughout the year. That means we average an outing every month, so that our Scouts have an outdoor experience 12 times a year. We also meet every week, on Monday nights at Mountain Park Church Gym.
We are all dedicated to making sure everyone stays safe. So, we train carefully both for outdoor and life skills, but also for reporting. We believe in the power of numbers for safety and ensure that there are always two adults on all meetings, emails, car journeys, and events with kids. All Scouts sleep in tents with multiple kids who are close in age.
We know modern life doesn’t allow much time for personal growth, but Scouting can provide parents and kids with an inexpensive, interesting structure that empowers positive growth. And it also includes adventures, fun and life-long friendships!
We welcome all genders from fifth grade up, and our Scouts come from many different schools and religions. We look forward to meeting you and your family.
