Camporee - Powerland Heritage Park

Each spring, Scouts from across the district gather for Camporee — a two‑night outdoor competition where patrols test their skills, teamwork, and scout spirit. This year’s Camporee, held in May at Powerland Heritage Park, brought together about 20 troops for a weekend themed around the Scout Olympiad.
Troop 221 jumped in with enthusiasm. Our SPL led one of the most talked‑about stations of the weekend: Patrol Podium Ascension. In this challenge, patrols raced to lash together a sturdy tripod capable of supporting their entire patrol for 10 full seconds — a true test of knot knowledge, communication, and trust.
Other crowd‑favorite events included:

• Fire‑Start Sprint — how fast a patrol could build a fire hot enough to pop kernels in a tin can suspended overhead
  
• Water Relay — transporting water between buckets using only a hole‑punched tin can, forcing scouts to strategize and adapt on the fly
  

The weekend also featured a meaningful moment for Troop 221: five of our scouts were nominated for the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s national honor society. The OA held its callout ceremony at Camporee, making the recognition even more memorable.
Troop 221 represented with skill, spirit, and teamwork — a fantastic showing at a fantastic Camporee.
