A Weekend of Fishing, Friendship, and Scouting Traditions at Milo McIver Our troop enjoyed a memorable weekend at Milo McIver State Park, including four Scouts on their very first campout. The trip featured fishing, crawdad hunting, a visit to the fish hatchery, disc golf, camp cooking, rank advancement, and a meaningful flag retirement ceremony. Scouts spent Saturday exploring the park, catching fish and crawdads that were later cooked over the fire, visiting the salmon hatchery, and enjoying friendly competition on the disc golf course. That evening, we gathered for a respectful flag retirement ceremony before closing the day with Scout Vespers around the campfire. After breakfast and breaking camp on Sunday, Scouts worked on advancement requirements before heading home. From outdoor adventure and skill-building to friendship and service, the weekend was a great reminder of what Scouting is all about. For our newest Scouts, it was a fantastic introduction to the program, and for everyone else, another opportunity to make lasting memories outdoors.
